A limited number of Scholarship for Minorities are available to reach those most in need of assistance. Students from the entire 30-county region is entitled to apply for financial aid through a scholarship program administered by the Foundation:

All Scholarship for Minorities recipients must be accepted and registered within 12 hours of study during a regular semester or a full-time status is approved or equivalent in nursing related health care programs. Scholarship for Minorities Applicants must be in the Heartland Foundation service region that includes the following counties in Missouri: Andrew, Atchison, Buchanan, Caldwell, Carroll, Clay, Clinton, Daviess, DeKalb, Gentry, Grundy, Harrison, Holt, Livingston, Mercer, Nodaway, Platte, Ray , and Worth; in Iowa: Decatur, Fremont, Page, Ringgold, and Taylor; in Kansas: Atchison, Brown, Doniphan, and Nemaha and in Nebraska: Nemaha and Richardson.
